- How do I program my garage door remote?
On your operator unit there will be either a purple or red button. Push that button once and let go, push your remote button once and let go. Light should flash; your remote is now programmed.
- Why is my garage door remote not working?
Try changing the battery. Open your remote, you should see the battery. You can purchase batteries at any battery specialty store. Remember, when you change the battery you must re-program your remote. If that does not work, make sure the lock button on your wall button is off. Also make sure your photo cells are aligned correctly.
- If I have lost a remote or it was stolen how do I reset my operator?
On your operator there will be either a purple or red button. Press that button and hold for 10 seconds and release. This will reset your operator. Any remotes that were programmed to that unit will not work now. You will need to re-program any of your existing remotes.
- What size does the framed opening of my garage need to be?
The size of your framed opening should be the same size as the door you want. So if you want an 18x7 size door your opening needs to be 18’ wide and 7’ high.
- My remotes will not close the door and I have to hold the wall button to get the door to come all the way down.
More than likely your photo cells are out of alignment. When your photo cells go out of alignment the safety sensors think there is something in front of the door. These sensors are located near the bottom of the door. You will have one on each side. One should have an amber light and the other should be a green light. Go up to the one with the green light and loosen the wing nut. Adjust the photo cell until the green light is as bright as it will go, tighten the wing nut and push the wall button to see if that worked. Remember that when the photo cells go out of alignment the lights do not blink, they just get dimmer than normal. If that still does not work check the wires to the photo cells. If you do not see anything wrong and are still having problems closing your door, please contact us for a service call.
- How do I know if my spring is broken?
When you are standing in the garage look above the door and you will see either 1 or 2 big coil springs. If one is broken, it will be really difficult to open or close your door. Or the door will only go half way up or half way down and stop. If your spring is broken please contact us to have your springs replaced.
- My motor is running but my door will not move.
This is probably a gear assembly. There is a plastic gear inside your operator and over time the teeth get chewed and needs to be replaced. We sell this part wholesale or we can change out your gear set for you.
- My chain is running but it will not open the garage door.
Check your emergency pull cord (red cord) to make sure it is still hooked up to the trolley. If not, pull the cord away from the garage door and it should hook back up to the trolley. This should take care of your problem.
- Can I replace just a panel or does the whole door need to be replaced?
We do sell just panels for your garage door. Please contact us for pricing.
- How often should I service my garage door?
The manufacture recommends your service your door once every 6 months. Service includes lubricating your springs, rollers, and hinges with a non-silicone lubricant. We sell door lubricant for a small price. We also offer a Preventive Maintenance program that includes a 18 point inspection of your door, we lubricate the necessary parts, make any adjustments to the door as needed and make you aware of any issues that we see.
- How do I measure for a garage door?
Step 1 Measure the width of the door opening at the widest point. This is the distance between the right and left sides of the finished opening. The inside of the garage door should be framed with 2 in. x 6 in. wood jambs.
Step 2 Measure the height of the door opening at the highest point. This is the distance between the floor and the top of the finished opening.
Step 3 Measure the width of the areas beside the openings. 3-3/4 in is required on each side for installation of the vertical track.
Step 4 Measure the area between the top of the door opening to the ceiling. Carriage House doors require 15 in. of headroom for the door installation. An additional 3 in. is required for an opener.
Step 5 Measure the distance from the opening to the rear of the garage. (The door height plus an additional 18 in. is required for the door installation or an additional 4ft. 2 in. plus door height if installing an automatic opener).
